Phase 2 HIPAA Audits Begin Nationwide | WWC

The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), charged with enforcing the privacy, security and breach provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), has confirmed it has dispatched preliminary audit surveys to covered entities. The surveys, which serve as the opening volley in Phase 2 of OCR's HIPAA audit program, are evidently designed to confirm contact information as a prelude to the full audit process.
