HIPAA Audits to Begin Again, Vendor Selected | WWC
The Office for Civil Rights, the agency mandated to oversee compliance with the breach, privacy and security rules of the Health Insurance Accountability and Portability Act (HIPAA), has selected a third-party vendor to conduct its next round of audits. FCI Federal of Virginia is begin tasked with conducting the audits. Unlike the first round of audits, this time both covered entities and business associates will be on the list of firms to be contacted for a compliance check. OCR is wrapping up the audit selection process now and will release the audit protocol before the auditing beings.
