Federal Workers Overwhelmingly Reject Obamacare in Survey

According to a survey conducted by FedSmith.com, some 92 percent of federal employees and 96 percent of federal retirees are adamantly opposed to switching to the Health Insurance Marketplaces from their current program, even though the federal government will still foot the bill.

As originally written, government employees were exempted from the provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), but Sen. Charles Grassley, R.-Iowa, slipped in a last-minute amendment forcing federal employees into the system. In a rush to pass the health care reform, Democrats mostly never read the legislation.

Federal employees currently can choose their health plan from several options on the Federal Employees Health Benefits Plan (FEHBP), with coverage paid for largely by the government (75 percent's worth).

In the past few weeks, unions have also objected to have their members be part of the Obamacare marketplace system.
