California Payday Notice Poster: What Must Be on the Wall
California requires all employers to post a clear notice that tells employees when they will be paid and how or where they will receive their wages. Under Labor Code §207, this notice must be placed in a visible location such as a break room or near the time clock so every employee can easily see it.
The California Department of Industrial Relations (DLSE) provides a fill-in Payday Notice form, and Workwise includes this form in every California labor law poster set. To stay compliant, you must fill in the following information:
- Pay frequency (weekly, biweekly, semimonthly or monthly)
- Regular payday (the specific day or date employees are paid)
- Time and place of payment (by direct deposit or check pickup)
Not completing this form can lead to violations during an inspection.
Workwise California labor law posters also include all required state and federal notices, such as minimum wage, discrimination and harassment rights and family leave information. We add local notices when needed. Only one current labor law poster is required per location, but it must always be kept up to date. Local rules may require additional posters, including paid sick leave or fair scheduling notices.
